Hardware Encoding with Encodarr

While using hardware to encode media is possible, it is not well tested within Encodarr and therefore not recommended at this time.

Important Caveats

There are some drawbacks associated with using hardware encoding with Encodarr. Because both the codec and device are set per library, these settings cannot be tailored to each Runner. You must make sure that the hardware encoding options you choose will work with every Runner you use, or things will break.

Encodarr also does not support hardware decoding at this time.

The Future

A plugin system is in the early stages of development which will be more capable of removing these limitations, and allowing for more versatility in encoding and decoding media.
