996 AI builds and curates open-source tooling to help people work smarter and live better — not longer. We focus on ergonomic, high-efficiency projects that reduce busywork, automate repetitive tasks, and defend developers and students against exploitative schedules.
We believe:
- People’s time and health come first.
- Open source + AI can amplify humane productivity.
- Tools should enable creative work, not replace rest.
996 AI respects your privacy — always. We will never abuse, sell, or leak your personal data. Our commitment is:
- Minimal data collection: we collect only the data absolutely necessary to provide a feature — and only with explicit opt-in.
- Local-first & opt-in: whenever possible, processing happens locally (client side) or on user-controlled systems. Any server collection is opt-in and documented.
- No selling: we do not sell or trade personal data to third parties.
- Transparent & open: repository code that handles user data is public, and data flows are documented. Security and privacy practices are described in each repo’s
PRIVACY.md
. - Short retention & anonymization: data kept only as long as needed and anonymized wherever feasible.
- Audits & community review: maintainers welcome audits and third-party review; security issues have a clear disclosure path.
- Contact & removal: users can request data deletion or clarifications by opening an issue or emailing
[email protected]
(or the project’s maintainer contact).
We welcome contributions of all kinds:
- Open issues for bugs, feature requests, or ideas
- Pull requests (feature branches + tests)
- Docs, examples, translations, and moderation
Please read each repo’s CONTRIBUTING.md
, CODE_OF_CONDUCT.md
, and PRIVACY.md
(if the repo handles data) before contributing.
This org follows a contributor-friendly approach. All projects should include:
CONTRIBUTING.md
— how to contributeCODE_OF_CONDUCT.md
— respectful behavior expectationsLICENSE
— clear open-source license (prefer permissive)PRIVACY.md
— for any project that collects or processes user data
If a project lacks any of these files, open an issue to help maintainers add them.
