I installed Zen Browser on Mac mini M1 and after changing some settings I renamed the application (maybe when it was open).

I tried reinstalling it but the problem of the blank screen with only the logo remains.

I reproduced on Mozilla Firefox the same thing but it only resets the settings.

Hello @igor-coding! I'm here to help you with any bugs, questions, or contributions you have for Zen Browser. Let's work together to solve this issue.

I found a similar issue that might help you resolve the problem. There is an open issue titled Black splash screen suddenly where users experienced a similar blank screen with only the logo. The suggested solution is to run the command xattr -c '/Applications/Zen Browser.app/' and then open Zen from the applications folder. Additionally, you might want to consider bypassing Gatekeeper as detailed in the installation guide [1].

This might help resolve the issue related to permissions or security settings affecting the browser's startup. If the problem persists, it could be related to the renaming of the application, which might have affected its configuration files or settings. Unfortunately, I couldn't find specific information on how Zen Browser handles application renaming or its impact on configuration files.

Renaming the application might have affected Zen Browser's configuration files or settings. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:

  1. Reset Configuration Files: Try resetting Zen Browser's configuration files to their default state. This might involve deleting or renaming the configuration directory, which is typically located in ~/Library/Application Support/Zen Browser/. Make sure to back up any important data before doing this.

  2. Check for Corrupted Preferences: Sometimes, preferences files can become corrupted. Look for any .plist files related to Zen Browser in ~/Library/Preferences/ and try removing them.

  3. Reinstall with a Clean Slate: Completely uninstall Zen Browser, ensuring all related files and directories are removed, and then reinstall it. This can help if there are lingering files causing issues.

  4. Console Logs: Check the Console app on macOS for any error messages related to Zen Browser. This might provide more insight into what's going wrong during startup.

If these steps don't resolve the issue, it might be necessary to investigate further into how the renaming affected the application, possibly by checking for any hardcoded paths or dependencies that might have been disrupted.

I cleaned all the files left on Mac. I reinstalled it and now it works
