Part I: Gridded Datasets =============

  1. CRUTEM (monthly, global, 5x5 deg)

    * Station data: [click here!](https://crudata.uea.ac.uk/cru/data/temperature/crutem4/station-data.htm) * Gridder code (Perl script): [click here!](https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/binaries/content/assets/mohippo/zip/climate/gridding_and_averaging_code.zip)
  2. CRU TS (monthly, global, 0.5x0.5 deg)

  3. Berkeley Earth (monthly, global, 1x1 deg)

  4. NASA/GISS TEMP (monthly, global, 2x2 deg)

  5. GHCN Gridded Products (monthly, global, 5x5 deg)

  6. MLOST Product (monthly, global, 5x5 deg)

    • Data: click here!

Part II: Station Datasets =============

  1. Global Historical Climatology Network (GHCN, monthly&daily, global)

  2. U.S. Climate Reference Network (USRCRN, monthly, daily, hourly, sub-hourly, conterminous U.S.)

  3. FLUXNET (register required)

  4. Russian & former USSR Station data (daily, Russia)

Part III: Maps =============

  1. Koppen Climate Classification

  2. Permafrost map

    • NH IPA: NSIDC FTP; or NetCDF(0.5 deg): Download; or Shapefile(lat-lon, WGS84): Download
    • China: NSIDC FTP
    • Russia: NSIDC FTP

Part IV: Reanalysis Datasets =============

Note: There is a web-based and quick showing of multiple reanalysis dataset: Go to Climate Reanalyzer

  1. European Reanalysis Interim (ERA-Interim)

  1. Climate Forecast System Reanalysis (CFSR)
  • NOAA National Climatic Data Center

    • State-of-the-art 3rd generation reanalysis with robust physics and data assimilation. Includes coupled ocean and sea ice models.
    • 0.5°x0.5° global grid with 64 vertical levels.
    • Well suited for climate study within the satellite era.
