Hi @frostybee! Thanks for sharing this request. We don’t intend to change this behaviour although for Starlight users who need it, a component override can be used to change the default implementation. On the whole, UX research has shown that forcing links to open in a new tab is usually not the best choice except for some quite specific scenarios. Would it be possible to change the implementation of the social links component to open the embedded links in a new browser tab?
Why is this feature necessary?
It is more convenient to keep the end users on the documentation page and open a new tab to load the requested page.
Do you have examples of this feature in other projects?
The social links found embedded in the nav bar.
