I suggest to add time tracking feature to extention.
Redmine has API to add this http://www.redmine.org/projects/redmine/wiki/Rest_TimeEntries
Few userkeys::

only 1 task at one moment can be active with time tracking
be able to start-stop tracking
can add comment to stopped track
Also suggest to add "Edit" icon for better usability
