Investigate the root cause of PR 4720

An innocent-looking FS change causes sqlite to fail under WASIX with a "database locked" error. For now, we reverted the change, but the root cause must be discovered.

To see the error, revert the revert commit from PR 4720, then run Wordpress with php/php.
