I have a lot of articles saved in my read-it-later service (currently: almost 5,000) and fetching all of those to my android phone and storing them locally would require more storage than I have.

Being able to limit the number of articles (or the storage-space used) synchronized to the Android application would be great.

A couple of bonuses would be :

  • Being able to choose between "only synchronize most recent posts" (my favorite) and "only synchronize oldest posts" (and maybe, in addition, "always synchronize favorites" ? )
  • Being able to force-purge oldest posts stored locally, to fore-synchronize most-recent ones (to always have the most-recent posts in the application, even if it means purging older ones, to respect the limit)

Disclaimer: I'm currently using another read-it-later service and I have not migrated to wallabag yet -- that's one of the features I use in their app ;-)

With wallabag v2 you can configure how many items are in the RSS feed. This is how you can influence how many articles are downloaded to the app.

I think this features should be editable from the app. Most people install wallabag web and then they only use the app...

Most people

How did you measure that?

I have not measured it. How is anyone supposed to have to change RSS preferences to see more articles in the app? I am an experienced user and I thought the app was using the API ...

the point is that different users, in a single instance, may want different settings.

The feature is not planned for 1.x.
2.x won't use RSS feeds.
