Zoom images or view them in external viewer

Some images in articles are quite small (even though they take up the full width of the screen, their contents are still too small) and I would like the ability to zoom in on them or maybe open them in an external image viewing app (where you are able to zoom). Currently the image is just there but too small to see properly.
