I'd very much would like a way to keep an offline copy of all the data in my Evernote notebooks, in an automated and scriptable way. For my purposes, this is primarily a backup and data-liberation issue, so the format of the files as synced would not be as important to me (eg if it was html, like the export function in the desktop app, that would be fine). This is probably closely related to the feature request for offline notebooks.

From searching blogs and forum posts, it seems there are many people looking for an automated way to backup their Evernote.

Seconded. I'm on Linux and would love to manage my notebooks via local files and sync them to Evernote. The Evernote clones on Linux are not great (un-maintained or sluggish), but console is an acceptable standard.

This will be really awesome feature. Especially for tool like TagSpaces.

+1. Then notes would be accessible to desktop search. (I'm on Linux too)
