This needs more information. Which Atheros Wi-Fi dongles are you using? Are they visible in other virtual machines? Does vmplayer see the Wi-Fi dongles and did you connect them to the VM?

HI,

  • ALFA AW360NHA atheros chip
  • no additional virtual machine, just vmplayer. Does ModWifi image run in oracle VirtualBox?
  • Vmplayer connected the dongles at first run. Second run disappeared...now missing from Ubuntu 18.04 too; output vmnet8/vmnet8 no wireless extensions.

Did you restart the whole machine (guest + host)? So the dongles disappeared from the host as well? Do the dongles still work when plugged into another computer?

If the dongles no longer appear on the host machine then the problem is with the host machine or the Wi-Fi dongles.

  • Dongles work after uninstalled VMplayer
  • Dongles appear on the host machine
