As mentioned during our meetings we will develop for the first time research in order to understand the status of open source design in 2018 and also the level of perception of the importance of design and usability research in free open source, open data, online privacy and digital commons initiatives.
The results will hopefully be presented in the upcoming Open Source Design Summit that will take place in Tirana, Albania in fall 2018.
Action needed: we need to discuss how we are going to implement the survey and also present it.

Deliverables:

  • survey questions [ ]
  • online survey development [ ]
  • groups of interest that will fill in the survey [ ]
  • analysis of the results [ ]
  • publication of the results [ ]
  • design of the initiative (poster, online assets etc) [ ]

Involvement from all of us is needed on this and also full engagement and coordination with the Open Source Design community members. This is a big project and we need to invest in many hours for this.

Thanks for addressing this!

The results will hopefully be presented in the upcoming Open Source Design Summit that will take place in Tirana, Albania in fall 2018.

That's in fact not what we discussed. The Summit would be a good opportunity to gather data about the report. I also want to stress out that this should be a proper report for 2018, published beginning of 2019.

I will invite all Open Source Design Collective to jump in and contribute if they like to by posting on the Discourse.

Changing this to Low Priority since the publication needs to happen early 2019
