Broken on Ventura #91
Comments
Mos wasn't starting on Sequoia. Scroll-Reverser worked like a charm. |
The app continues to function for my needs and hasn't been abandoned. I simply haven't needed to update it since 2021. I haven't updated any of my Macs to Sequoia, currently too many apps are broken due to OS issues such as VPNs so I need to wait until all these issues are resolved and I can't update this app until I have a personal Mac running Sequoia. I also don't want to upgrade to begin with since I will have to re-grant permissions to screenshare on a weekly basis, and no useful features to me were added (aside from window snapping which is already solved by Rectangle). The other issue is that currently my 2021 Macbook M1 Pro (my only personal Mac) has an expanding battery causing the trackpad to swell at the corners when the battery is charging or the system is under load. Despite only having 100 cycles and being in near mint condition aside from keyboard wear, I am having trouble getting Apple to replace it even with "Apple Care+" so I have mostly switched to a Framework laptop with Fedora 40 which I have found I like much more anyway. Still use a Mac at work though (the original reason I made this app was that Scroll Reverser and other solutions didn't work at the time) and if there's no way to reverse the scrolling using FOSS software I will definitely look into updating this with a new solution. Currently between what I feel has been a slow but steady drop in quality of macOS releases, in addition to the hardware issues and lack of support from Apple despite paying large sums for Apple Care+ on what was already the most expensive computer I ever bought, I don't know that I will be using macOS much longer. So, if another solution does work definitely do switch to that! :) Pull requests are also welcome! |
Closing this issue as I know for a fact the app is working up to at least Sonoma 14.7 as I use it everyday and used Ventura everyday until recently. Is there something else on your system that is interfering (do you have logitech or other mouse control software installed?). Without more information there's no way for me to fix whatever issue you are having. Solutions here also worked for some people: #67 |
I didn't have anything else installed on the machine pertaining to this. This is a fresh mac I had just received when I made this issue. I strictly install my programs with For reference, It had worked the very first time I installed it, but it seems it was never persistent and never worked again, no matter the amount of combinations of restart the machine/restart the program/disable/enable the setting, etc.. I will not test it anymore since Mos works perfectly on my end so I have no desire to change this. Feel free to leave this issue closed. |
For anyone who comes across this in the future: in addition to other apps interferring theres also some sort of bug either with macOS or the app that I haven't been able to figure out that seems to happen randomly. Following the instructions here has always fixed it for me. Somehow (either a mistake in my permissions code, or due to macOS bugs) the accessiblity settings of macOS itself seems to be getting confused and is failing to give the app needed access. |
Just wanted to let people know that this program which has not received any update for 2 years now, is not working anymore on modern versions of macOS.
I recommend using Mos instead (english readme here) which I have personally tested sucessfully and can be installed simply via
brew install mos
