Make sure that Ubuntu AppIndicators extension is enabled.
Open the app that is going to create the indicator on the status bar.
Right-click on the Telegram indicator and select "Quit Telegram" option.
Expected behaviour
When I take the steps by given the option for reproduction, it basically shouldn't cause this issue happened as I didn't encounter this case with the other apps.

In order to make the icons placeable on the desktop, I just kill the window, and then it works normally as it supposed to be.

Even if there's something specific to tdesktop, the actual bug is either in your extension or GNOME itself, tdesktop has no access to your desktop layout
