  • I have checked the FAQ for answers.
  • I have checked the Changelog that the issue is not already fixed.
  • I believe this issue is a bug, and not a general technical issue, question or feature requests that can be discussed on the forum.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Add /proc/self/fd to Collection when operating Strawberry on Debian Linux
  2. Observe "Updating collection..." spins forever and nothing useful happens

Why intentionally add /proc to the music collection? If you have a media drive what is also containing classic computing files of Debian Linux from the potato era, those directories contain a symlink: fd -> /proc/self/fd

Possible workaround might be to reject traversal of mounted proc filesystem directly and by symlink.

System Information:
Debian trixie/sid (a.k.a. testing)
Strawberry 1.2.2

P.S. There are more situations where Collection Scanning breaks, for example symlink to /run
