Background and details:

  • currently we have 33 common currencies, exchange rate is retrieved from Google Finance in daily basis
  • if organisatoin currency does not existed in application, user can specify exchange rate in project level
  • in dashboard, it will find the exchange rate from organisation currency to EUR. No exchange rate will be found if organisation currency does not exist in our 33 common currencies
  • it is unlikely to happen, because most of our users should be using one of the existing 33 common currencies in application

Note:

  • just to write it down here as a note to remind that this issue may occur

Possible workaround:

  • if no exchange rate can be found, we may consider below in dashboard front end:
    1. show message to mention budget filter is not applicable because we do not have exchange rate
    2. allow user to enter exchange rate on the fly
