@staticfloat, please take heed of this bug here, the Julia folks have removed the PPAs from their installation notes page because of this issue. I have installed the official julia binaries from their website, and the error went away, which makes me think this is an issue with the PPA versions.

Thanks for the error report @Algomorph, I will look into this further, but I'm glad to hear that you got it working by using the official binaries.
