Tags for releases

I wanted to know if #3053 is included in Bikeshed 5.1.2, but don't know how. I ran pipx upgrade-all to figure out that there was a release, but don't know which commit it was made from.

Tagging releases in Git would fix this for me, but anything that answers the question "which release first included this PR/commit" would do the trick.

Every release is accompanied by a commit that bumps the semver file. Is that sufficient? If not, could you explain a bit more? I still haven't been able to determine what value people are actually obtaining from tags.

I see, so a commit like be9677c. Knowing that I could have figured out the answer on the command line.

With tags, the answer could be found directly on GitHub, which I think is convenient.
