Unable to receive "auth" parameter of SocketIO client

This is how i am accessing the SocketIO server

var socket = io('http://localhost:3001', {
  query: {
    token : "XXXX"
  },
  withCredentials: false,
  allowEIO3: true,
  auth: {
    token: "abc"
  }
});

IN the backend i am getting the query but not the auth parameter:

Which version of Socket.IO are you using?

Server side its "socket.io": "^2.2.0", and client side v2.3.0

Oh, the auth option was added in version 3.0.0.
