Hey all! Huge fan of Bridgy Fed (as an AP user who wants to interact with BlueSky folks.)

I've run into an issue a couple of times where I've asked somebody on bsky to follow the bridge and get their account into the fediverse, but it doesn't show up. Mostly these are new accounts, where I'm trying to get them back into my social network after they leave other sites.

I think what's happened is that they've run into the one-week spam hold on new accounts.

The FAQ mentions that they can re-follow the bridge. I feel bad enough asking them to do something out-of-the-ordinary, and I feel worse coming back a week later and saying that it didn't work and would they please do these other two things.

It would be so cool if there was a way to re-trigger bridging their account after that week is over without having to ask them to do more work on their side. 🙂

EDIT: Since the week delay is a spam prevention measure, I guess this would look like one person "vouching" for somebody else's account. I suspect that there is a potential for abuse here, but I don't know how big of a risk it is.

Hi @DHowett! Makes sense, I definitely get how you don't want to harass people more than you need to.

We don't actually get account age from Bluesky, so that's probably not what's keeping them from getting bridged. Maybe the other spam filters or req'ts. (I take it back! They started populating that in app.bsky.actor.profile records recently, news to me.) We do DM people when they try and fail, and we explain what specifically went wrong. Maybe have them check their Bluesky DMs?
