As part of this issue we will document the changes made in #408. Specifically:

The reason we didn't update the docs as part of the relevant PR is because our GitHub Pages site currently points to master, which means the website would be updated as soon as we pushed any docs changes. But we want the website to reflect the docs in the latest release, not master, so until we implement a workaround (e.g. point the GH Pages site to a release tag) we need to be strategic about when we make docs changes.
