Bug Description

Non-technical friend was installing Signal desktop, he downloaded it, ran the installer, scanned the QR code with his phone, but before he finished he got the "Signal has an update screen". It being a popup dialog, he immediately clicked OK without reading it and let it update. After the update he had to scan the QR code again. He was visibly annoyed.

Not a huge issue, I'd just suppress the update prompt when someone is doing the device association flow so non-technical people don't have a bad impression when they first install the app.

It seems the team has worked hard to make installation and association as easy and painless possible, this is just another minor snag.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Install signal desktop
  2. Scan QR code
  3. Allow it to install an update before you give your device a name

Actual Result: You have to scan the QR code again

Expected Result: You aren't allowed to inconvenience yourself, the user isn't asked to restart and lose their progress (fish out the phone, find the menu option again, etc) half-way though.
