Bug Description

There is no color management support in Signal Desktop for Linux, that is if you have a calibrated screen with ICC profile loaded it's ignored. This means that if you have a wide gamut screen colors are over-saturated in the GUI as well as in received images etc.

Easiest to see with a calibrated wide gamut screen with an ICC profile loaded into the desktop

Signal Version: 1.19

Operating System: Linux / X11

This is worse than just saturation. It can cause colors to be unreasonable, making photographs completely wrong and some text to be unable to be read.

I opened #3159 earlier, thinking it was due to an update. However, after a lot of investigation seems to be related to monitor profiles.

I re-profiled my laptop's built-in screen before going on a trip and when I got back to work with it docked, with two external monitors, Signal stopped working properly. (I coincidentally upgraded right before, which threw me off until I investigated it further... especially as I hadn't used the computer in about a month, due to being sick from the trip.)

Everything else works as expected, regardless of which screen it is on. Signal is the only app that has issues.

electron/electron#10732 looks like it's related and has a possible fix in one of the comments.
