Looking at the README here, it seems you folks are as big a fan of emojis as I am, so I thought I'll insert a shameless plug here that you'll find helpful. :)
gitmoji is an initiative to add emojis to commit messages, not only for aesthetic purposes only but also to make it easier to read through git history, as it allows you to quickly figure out what each commit is about. The project also provides a convenient CLI that ensure you never forget to add an emoji to you commits through a git commit hook.
Unfortunately this tool can be slow on Linux machines (at least), so last weekend I created a replacement in Rust, called gimoji. Feel free to use either of those tools.
