Another interesting highlight is that loaded maps have a session length of 12h.
So, in essence, this change seems to make the billing scheme similar to what Google has: map loads count and that makes it easier to track the usage from analytics services, which count page loads.
If you don't want to take this new pricing into use: just change the Mapbox GL JS library to use earlier releases (< v1.0.0).
However, there's a DL: Nov 20, 2019.

It looks like the pricing might increase at that point quite much for old versions since previous "view rate" -based billing is changed to "tile"-based.
