I'm unsure of where to put issues related to the installer, but on a fresh bare metal boot of the cosmic installer, sudo appears completely nonfunctional.

I was greeted with the below prompt:

To install, run 'sudo lichen'. Note, you need to partition your disk first

I ran sudo lichen and was greeted with command not found. sudo appears to be entirely broken, commands like ls and echo don't work.

My next troubleshooting step was to try and switch to the root user, and when I ran sudo -i, I got:

sudo-rs: PAM error: PAM returned an error (AuthError): Authentication failure

I was able to start moss and lichen by navigating to /usr/bin and running sudo ./lichen.

I have not tried the gnome installer.

System Specs

  • Cosmic Prealpha 0.4 ISO created today in UEFI/GPT mode on Rufus from windows.
  • System has secure boot enabled
