Please add Ukrainian to codespace ecosystem !

Hello to all Nerd Fonts contributors and mods,

I actually got here through Starship project repo (https://github.com/starship).
They're doing a great job in supporting all things Ukrainian, recently they added Ukrainian translation option to their Crowdin repo.

Please join the movement and consider adding Ukrainian codespace support to your Fonts ecosystem, e.g. KOI8-U, KOI8-f, UTF-8 UA and if possible, other symbolic, regex and bytecode ASCII-compatible Ukrainian character sets.
So that Ukrainian symbols, characters and code could be well integrated, decoded and natively recognized across your great Nerd Fonts project, and subsequently across many other great projects around!

Well, Nerd Fonts takes preexisting fonts and preexisting symbol collections and combines them.

If you would like to have Ukrainian glyphs in a font you should talk to the original font creators. We can not design new Ukrainian letter glyphs from scratch. The right address for those are font creators.

If there are special Ukrainian symbols, they should generally be added to the symbol collector projects. But I can hardly think about anything country specific as symbol. There are symbols for programming languages, for example the moon symbol for Lua, the snakes for Python. There are symbols to represent a file folder, weather symbols, powerline symbols. But nothing that relates to a specific country.

So I believe there is nothing we can do here. Maybe you need to explain in more detail what you envision.

I thought the team does the thing with Font Patcher Script and CLI at pre-release stage, so that it all runs flawless on various systems...
Any suggestions / ideas on this ?

I guess I do not understand the problem. Could you be more specific what is not as good as one could wish; or what you concretely miss? Maybe with a screenshot where one can see how it is versus how it would be better?

Well, fonts nowadays usually have glyphs for unicode codepoints. How the local mapping used with an application (e.g. UTF-8 or UTF-16) addresses the codepoints in the font is nothing the font itself can or should influence. UTF-8 for example is just one way to express the possibly 32 bit wide codepoint numbers in the font from an application which's code just knows 8 bit characters.

KOI8-U is some specific mapping to access all 'relevant' glyphs with just 8 bit characters. In that encoding there is no room at all for any additional icons that Nerd Fonts is all about.

So I am not sure what you mean... the fonts supply rendering instructions for unicode codepoints.

The unicode codepoint numbers are given below the individual letters. You see, that are all in the u04xx range, while Nerd Fonts is all about codepoints uExxx and uFxxx. I see no possible overlap between Nerd Fonts and KOI8-F ??!

If that means adding the letters (glyphs) from the above table with codepoints u04xx (i.e. what I would call Cyrillic letters), these new glyphs should mesh well with the latin letters, in design, weight, style, etc, and we rely on the original font authors to provide these.
