I've recently been looking at https://github.com/jamesmunns/postcard and https://github.com/jamesmunns/postcard-rpc for MCU communication over the wire, and it looks quite compelling for many use-cases.

I don't know if this fully addresses the needs of this not-yet-awesome item, but it might at least be worth a mention in "WIP" section?

Hah! I would approve a PR that removes that section :)

I wrote it in this list, 6 years ago, which must have been write before I went and wrote the first version of postcard.
