A hearty and delicious yet slightly sweet whole wheat bread that can be made in the breadmaker
- 1½ cups warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
- 2 tablespoons dry milk powder
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 tablespoons molasses
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 ½ teaspoons salt
- 2 ¼ cups whole wheat flour
- 1 ¼ cups bread flour
- 1 cup whole bran cereal
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- Breadmaker
- Measuring cups/spoons
- Wire Rack
- Loaf Pan, Cooking spray, flour, mixing bowl, surface for kneading (if no breadmaker)
- Place ingredients in breadmaker (wet first: water, milk powder, then dry: the rest with yeast on top)
- Set crust setting to light
- Use standard breadmaking setting
- Preheat oven to 200 F
- Place ingredients in mixing bowl (wet first: water, milk powder, then dry: the rest with yeast on top)
- Mix ingredients together lightly
- Flour kneeding surface, place dough mixture on surface and knead well
- Spray loaf pan with cooking spray and dust with flour
- Place dough in loaf pan and punch down
- Place in oven to proof until dough does not spring back when pushing finger into it
- With no dough in oven increase heat to 270F
- Bake until evenly brown
- Remove from pan and let cool on wire rack
