Right now, the testing scenario defaults to Nauvis, which means that recipes specific to other surfaces are difficult to test. While the /cheat <planet> command will let you warp between planets, the testing scenario doesn't actually set the terrain on these other planets, so, you have to deal with enemies and placing foundations.
It would make sense to ensure that all planets have the same "prototype" terrain (maybe with colours to differentiate them, or different patterns) and/or to have a single "testing" planet which allows all possible crafting recipes (for ease of prototyping).
