Adjust workaround for dict support

13301d2 implemented a workaround for pending dict support.

This may need some adjustment when implementing full (nested) dict support.

In addition the little quirk about the format string replacement needs to be properly documented, including how to go with a "proper" python format string (referencing asset as the toplevel dict), which does/should avoid the replacement.
