Specific keys (w, s, x and 2) aren't working with hyper key on external keyboard

Hi,
As the title mentioned specific keys (w, s, x and 2) aren't working with hyper key on external keyboard (both a microsoft keyboard over bluetooth and hardline external mac keyboard). The hyper keys work on the internal keyboard but not external and only for specific keys. Any ideas on what may be causing this? Thank you for your help!
