This is more of an open question than a definitve issue, but I think it would be great to allow at least the most common accents and characters (and maybe some punctuation) outside of the English language.
An example of the current behavior with French words:

@nanaya I dunno if we can allow extended range for other languages while limiting from being (silly) unicode, but it might be good if we can support at least the common characters as proposed.

It might be nice to allow cyrillic letters if its not deployed yet.
Surely someone has created an "all unicode but safe characters only" list we can consume for this. I don't mind also included CJK for instance, as long as there's nothing which would be abusable.
