File sizes for resized PNG files seem overly large, possibly due to being converted to 32bit.

For example...
My original image file is an 8bit PNG, 829 pixels wide, 71KB
When resized to 300 pixels wide with imthumb it becomes a 32bit PNG, 143KB

Is there a way to keep PNGs as 8bit images?
