How to insert data into bytea field?

I use Postgres 16.3, and can't find relevant info in README.md or Discussions here. In SQL, I can insert data into field declared as bytea by calling decode function. For instance,

insert into mytable values (decode('....', 'base64'));

But when applying this function in postgres.js, postgres.js complains function decode(bytea, unknown) does not exist. In postgres.js, how can I translate the data into/ from bytea with the base64? Many thanks.

Ok. It's fixed. It should be

sql`INSERT INTO mytable VALUES (decode(${variable.field}, 'base64')) `;

instead. Previous I used decode(${variable.field}::bytea, 'base64'). Note there is a ::bytea, which should be applied here. Many thanks.
