Display resolution 640x480 turns off monitor

I attempted to set my display resolution to 640x480, but it caused a crash, resulting in a black screen or the monitor turning off. I managed to switch to a different TTY (terminal), but when I tried switching back to the TTY running Cosmic, I got stuck and was unable to switch to another TTY.

I'm uncertain whether this issue is hardware-related or software-related. It could potentially be due to my older hardware—I'm using an NVIDIA GT 710 with the Nouveau driver on Wayland.
