As of today we'll start to process PRs more frequently. With this change, we want to shorten the amount of time it takes us to review PRs and get them released acknowledging everyone's contributions.
Rationale
Until now, we've been typically following the process of contributing to the CLI ourselves throughout the week and reviewing PRs in the weekend. Even if some PRs were reviewed during the week, they'd sit waiting for the upcoming release next weekend. While this pattern gave us a predictable release cadence, often, we'd run of out time reviewing all PRs you and others in the community contributed. Regularly, we'd have to let PRs wait for another week or two to review them.
While we've been striving to process PRs as quickly as possible, some of them are more complex and require more time to go through. We don't think it's fair to let you wait for our review more than necessary.
Processing PRs more frequently
To speed things up, we decided:
Following this change, we'll be publishing more preview versions. If you need a particular fix or feature, it means that you can start using it quicker without having to fork the repo and retrofit the change yourself. Stable releases will keep following the monthly cadence so that you have a manageable update schedule.
Our ambition is to keep extending the CLI with features that you need so that it's a useful and versatile tool for working with Microsoft 365. We also want to keep acknowledging community contributors for helping us grow the CLI. A part of fulfilling this ambition is timely feedback and releases that address your needs. We hope processing PRs quicker will help us improve the release and feedback process. Don't hesitate to let us know if you have any feedback.
