Would be nice to

  1. be able to customize date format
  2. open definable application on calendar click

Customizing the date format could be done. What kind of formatting do you have in mind?

You point 2. is a duplicate of #32.

Some other applications use SimpleDateFormat so maybe EditText in which user could define custom format?

@hannupekka I have aCalendar installed next to the standard google calendar and i am able to choose the calendar when i click an event entry (on Android 4.4). Could you provide more details about your device/Android version?

HTC One with Android 4.3. On calendar click I meant when clicking the calendar background, not individual event/date header. But actually clicking either of those is fine so 2) is invalid, I guess.

This issue is outdated and not focused on a single feature.
If really needed, let's create a new one for one feature only.
Please note that we have related #216 for displaying day of week...
