  • if currently the CI tools can run in private repos that set repos private
  • if not, try to set issues and repo discussions private
    • issues cannot be private in a public repo, the workaround is not reasonable
  • try to migrate to GitLab -> check if CI tools can cooperate with GL in a private repo (back to 1st point)
  • or find alternative tools

Codecov, can now (I don't know for how long) work with private repos in free plan

Codefactor is limited to 1 private repository in free plan. This is not suitable for two-company set-up.

Workaround: Find a suitable alternative. This might not be easy, as tools used before all had serious drawbacks, but as time goes, the status-quo might have changed.

  • Codacy: 0 private repo supported in free plan
  • Code climate: 0 private repo supported in free plan
  • Codebeat: 0 private repo supported and cannot integrate with GH in free plan
  • deepsource can have 3 private repos, but cannot work with C#
