Update: This issue was due to the user having installed Pieces and PiecesOS from the Microsoft Store, which we do not support in-app updating for quite yet.

There are two workarounds:

1. Quit PiecesOS & the Desktop App, then re-open
2. Update the application(s) from the Microsoft Store, then re-open
