Hi

this may be helpful for others facing the same issue:

What happened
OGCS stopped working for me a few weeks ago. I dimly remember something about Google permissions coming up in my browser at some point, I thought I had clicked all the right buttons, but it is quite possible I neglected to tick that one check box (maybe the language of "[...] and permanently delete all the calendars you can access" scared me a bit, I don't remember).

What I tried that didn't work
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling OGCS (without restarting computer in between) but it did not help.
I read the remark about manually deleting the file Google.Apis.Auth.OAuth2.Responses.TokenResponse-user but first couldn't figure out where to find the file and then, upon finding it, renaming it (was a bit scared to delete it outright) didn't seem to solve the issue either.

What I did that worked
Ultimately, I went the nuclear option: I

  • uninstalled OGCS
  • deleted the folder C:\Users\myname_\AppData\Local\OutlookGoogleCalendarSync and everything in it
  • deleted the folder C:\Users\myname_\AppData\Roaming\Outlook Google Calendar Sync and everything in it
  • reinstalled OGCS

That worked!
This sent me to the screen below again, where I could finally tick the box and sync happily ever after :-)
Perhaps all of the above is obvious to everyone else, it wasn't obvious to me, so I hope it may help someone with the same problems get there faster!

Thanks @tobi-kellner for taking the time to help the community 👍🏻

Just to say though, that for the alpha releases following v2.11.0, this should be as simple as clicking the Disconnect Account on the Google Settings tab, and then reconnecting.

There are also similar manual steps on the wiki uninstall page, but granted, that might be a bit buried 🙁

I do understand the "delete all calendars" permission is a bit scary and OGCS doesn't need it. However, to reduce the permissions, I would have to get the application re-approved by Google and, to be honest, I don't want the hassle and risk of that not going well! If I ever get to syncing Contacts and need a new permission set, I'll refine the permissions then 🙂

Happy syncing!

Hi @phw198
thanks for the comment!
Good point about the Wiki, I admit I hadn't looked at that section. Glad to hear that it is possible to disconnect accounts now, happy to amend or delete my post if it's no longer relevant!
Thanks for your work,
Tobi
