macOS: installing MTGO using Wine

On macOS, depending on your configuration, the Docker image for MTGO (Magic Online) may not work properly.

Instead of using Docker and virtualization, you can try installing Wine directly in order to execute MTGO. First installation

0. In a Terminal, using Homebrew, execute the following command:

brew install cabextract

1. Download and execute installer for "Wine Development" at https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/macosx/download.html.
2. Launch "Wine Devel" application, it will open a Terminal
3. Execute

wine wineboot

you will be prompted for installing Mono and Gecko, choose Install in both cases.

4. Execute the following commands:

curl -O https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Winetricks/winetricks/master/src/winetricks
chmod +x winetricks
./winetricks corefonts dotnet461 ddr=gdi win7

Follow the instructions, note that the installation of .Net can take some time.

5. Execute the following commands:

curl -o mtgo.exe http://mtgoclientdepot.onlinegaming.wizards.com/setup.exe
wine mtgo.exe

MTGO execution

1. Launch "Wine Devel" application
2. In the opened Terminal, execute

wine mtgo.exe
