Solana + Reown AppKit: Error: Transaction confirmation timed out

I keep getting Error: Transaction confirmation timed out when trying to execute a transaction using reown appkit and solana:

const { connection } = useAppKitConnection();
  ...
  const response = await connection.confirmTransaction({
  blockhash: blockhash,
  lastValidBlockHeight: lastValidBlockHeight,
  signature
  }, "processed");

What can be done to resolve this issue?
