Many established organizations, SaaS products in particular, have a "Developer" section on their website - sometimes linked prominently in the footer - which describes how to use their APIs.
Sometimes there is a security area, a place to report bugs and breaches. This would probably be the more obvious use for a "Hackme" section.
It would be nice if in addition to sharing their data, website owners shared challenges for people to pick up, hackathon-style. Maybe just call it "For Hackathons".
One inspiration for me here is LobbyWatch, and I'd like to research this a little further.
