I just got an email from [email protected] that says, quoting:

Access to GitHub Copilot is now included with your GitHub account

Although the email doesn't refer to Emacs I'm using, I still was curious to look at it (I see there's an Emacs plugin still). So I'm clicking a link "Start using Copilot", but I get error Oops, something went wrong Copilot is unavailable to you at this time. Screenshot:

I also tried clicking the link from my profile, but I get same error. Apparently it is some kind of Github bug, so am reporting it.

Tbh I don't think Github officials pay any attention to Github bugreports. It's not the first time I report one (although the first time it gets so popular), and I never got an answer.

GitHub Copilot is a commercial, mass-market product and has been assigned the Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) of 5D992.c and may be exported to most destinations with no license required (NLR).

GitHub Copilot may not be sold, exported, or re-exported to any embargoed destination or a country listed in Country Group E:1 in Supplement No. 1 to part 740 of the EAR without authorization. These destinations currently include Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Russia, Belarus, and the following regions of Ukraine: Crimea/Sevastopol and the separatist areas of Donetsk and Luhansk. This list is subject to change.
