Dear GitHub Support,
I have submitted a work order on GitHub Support, but no one has replied to me.
I am writing to express my extreme frustration and dissatisfaction regarding the sudden suspension of my GitHub account. This is absolutely unjustified and has left me deeply upset, especially considering the circumstances surrounding my account and the lack of proper communication from your end.
I logged into my GitHub account for the first time today and discovered that my account was suspended without any prior warning. Upon checking my email, I found several notifications about an issue with my education verification (see attached screenshots). This was the only reason given for the suspension, yet I was never properly informed or given any opportunity to resolve it before my account was completely locked.
The email mentioned a failure in the education verification process. Initially, I thought nothing of it—after all, I only needed GitHub Copilot, and I assumed that a failed verification would not affect my account. However, when I tried to access my GitHub account later, I was shocked to find that my account had been completely suspended and was no longer searchable.
I followed the instructions in your email and attempted to reach out via the provided contact form, only to be met with endless technical errors, such as server overload messages and errors that prevent me from submitting my appeal. You are forcing me to jump through impossible hoops and, frankly, I am outraged.
Verification Process and Documentation: To be absolutely clear, the educational verification process is completely legitimate. I have submitted genuine, accurate, and valid student documentation for both my 2022 and 2024 applications. In 2022, I used my student ID, and in 2024, I went above and beyond to request a valid .edu email from my school—because, apparently, GitHub has changed the requirements. I followed all of the rules, provided all necessary materials, and nothing was false or fabricated. And yet, despite all this, my account has been suspended for no valid reason.
I have NEVER violated GitHub’s terms of service, and I have used this account solely for legitimate development. This is a platform I have trusted with my work, and I now find myself in the absurd situation where my account is blocked based on nothing more than a technicality in the verification system.
Unacceptable Handling of My Personal Information: What truly disgusts me is the fact that I’ve had to reveal so much personal information to GitHub just to use basic features like Copilot, only to have my account suspended without any adequate explanation. This entire process feels like a violation of my privacy, and the lack of respect shown towards me as a user is downright insulting.
This is absolutely unacceptable, and I demand the immediate reinstatement of my account. I will provide all necessary verification documents, including my student ID, academic records, and any other proof required to resolve this issue. However, I will not tolerate further delays or unnecessary obstacles.
I cannot stress enough how much my GitHub account means to me. It is home to several important projects that I have developed, many of which are widely used by other developers and have received hundreds of stars. The suspension of this account has put my work, as well as the work of others who rely on my repositories, at serious risk.
If this is how GitHub treats its users—especially those who have always followed the rules and acted in good faith—then I am deeply disillusioned with the platform. I demand a proper, immediate review of my case and expect my account to be reinstated immediately.
I expect a clear, direct response, not more errors, not more delays, and certainly not more disrespect.
Sincerely,
aoguai
