the project seems active and I'm also interested in using it for new projects, why it does not have a release for the last 7 years?

@orangeduck shouldn't this be mentioned at the very top of the readme in bold and with large font size?

Some might then want to choose https://github.com/Hirrolot/interface99 and https://github.com/Hirrolot/datatype99 instead of Cello.
