Disabling telemetry data at build time

Hi there,

as the title already suggests I'm looking for a way to disable telemetry at build time. I can't find any reference to this being possible. As I understand the opt_in_out option is only possible after the fact. I'm happy for any clues regarding this matter :)

Hi!
No telemetry is reported during the OpenVino build or pip packages installations, so if you run opt_in_out --opt_out after the build no telemetry will be sent except for the information that opt-out was chosen.
Also opt_in_out is a part of openvino-telemetry pip package, so you can install it separately and opt-out any time.

Regarding the link in readme, the links were recently updated as a preparation for the new documentation release. In a few days new documentation version will be published and the links will become active.

Also does OpenVino send telemetry data when I embed the OpenVino C++ library in my C++ app or is telemetry only part of the python package?

No, there's no possibility to turn telemetry off at the build time.

Yes, telemetry is sent only from python OpenVINO tools. If you embed the OpenVino C++ library in you C++ app it will send no telemetry.

Awesome thank you for the explanation. Just one more thing, if I build the python package from source, do I need to opt out of telemetry on every device I install this package on or does it suffice to opt out on, for example the CI/CD system where I have built the package and then distribute it to all machines and they don't have to separately opt out?

It is needed to opt-out separately on every device where package is installed. The opt-out flag is stored locally in the home directory, so the built package won't have this information.
