[water] Mapnik ignores value culvert for the tunnel tag on waterways #3341
Comments
Author: battarsa[at]email.it More generally, the special tunnel rendering should be used whenever there is tunnel =*, not only tunnel=yes. |
Author: daniloB +1 :) |
Author: scai +10, tunnel=culvert has already been used 34905 times. |
Author: Martialmapper +1 Now it is used over 50.000 times. So 11% of all tunnels tagged this way. |
Author: mcld +1 on this issue. See also this question on help.osm.org, where another mapper has the same issue: https://help.openstreetmap.org/questions/19558/how-do-i-map-a-stream-that-is-in-a-culvert-so-osmorgs-mapnik-will-not-render-it See for example this way I added for a culvert which connects a lake to a stream: http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/way/210181772 This issue has been open for over two years, and affects lots of tiles (as noted by Martialmapper). So, although I'm no expert on mapnik style, here's a pull request, please consider: openstreetmap/mapnik-stylesheets#7 |
Author: Vincent de Phily Let me add tunnel=building_passage to the list, with 5500 uses. [http://taginfo.openstreetmap.org/keys/tunnel#values Taginfo] also show "avalanche_protector", "passage", and "covered" in the long tail, although I'm not sure how the last two improve upon "yes". |
Author: math1985 This is now also being discussed on Github: gravitystorm/openstreetmap-carto#198 Therefore, I will close the issue here. |

Please render waterways tagged as tunnel=culvert the same way as those tagged as tunnel=yes (culvert=yes)
