Version update for elasticsearch 8.x.x

Since elasticsearch introduced "elastic query language" in it's versions 8.x.x, It will be great to have this version update in opendistro as well.
I wanted to know that, When to expect this update from opendistro?

Hey @syed-wajih - that's not going to happen.

Elasticsearch 8.x.x (actually anything past 7.10.2) is not open source software anymore. That's why the OpenSearch project was started - it's a fork of the ES 7.10.2 and all new development is going on there. You should look at moving to OpenSearch as soon as possible as it's impossible to update much of Open Distro in a meaningful way.
